Des 4 coins de l’Europe, une dizaine de réalisateurs ont échangé cet été leurs rushes vidéo: voici le résultat!

RUSH UP MEETING : SCHEDULE

The European meeting organized by NISIMASA FRANCE with the support of "Label Paris Europe" (Mairie de Paris) and Avid, will take place in Paris from the 11th to the 14th of September 2008. Here is the schedule:


Thrusday 11th of September:
Meeting at the Maison des Initiatives étudiantes (3rd). Presentation. Lunch in the Marais. Preparation of the screening (pitches and technical material). Short workshop about Law and Images in recycling creations (made by Hanna Mouchez).
In the evening, public screening of the 8 movies, resulting of the exchange. At 8.30 PM in an alternative venue called Les Voûtes. Each movie will be presented by its 2 co-authors (cameraman + editor). The screening of the 8 RUSH UP movies will be followed by a 30 minutes retrospective of an experimental French filmmaker, Olivier Fouchard, organized by The Collectif Jeune Cinéma (see detailed program on the flyer). We will have a discussion and a nice time during the dinner in the garden.

Friday 12th:
In the morning, visit of the movie laboratory L'abominable in Asnières (92) a center of experimental cinema in Paris. We will have a Pic nic on the terrace of the place. In the afternoon, free time or walk in Paris on a movie topic ("New Wave in Paris" or "Places of contemporary French cinema", by Anne Reverseau).
In the evening, initiation to « Found Footage » (recycling of video images) by Pierre Wayser (holott.org) in Les Voutes, followed by a dinner in a restaurant and a collective Birthday Party (for Gianluca, Marcel and Paula).

Saturday 13th:
In the morning, free time to visit galleries and art exhibitions (if interested, guided tours of Cesar exhibition in Fondation Cartier or Miroslav Tichy in Beaubourg, on the topic of recycling).
In the afternoon, intensive shooting session for a collective movie that will be edited by Bruno Herlin, digital artist, about an African sculptor, Malam, in Le Pont (alternative venue under a bridge), in alternance with an initiation to VJing (real-time image mix) by Laurent Carlier.
Evening at La Ferme du Buisson (Noisiel, 77): art installation, several concerts, movie night (screening of "Entre les murs", winner of the Palme d'Or 2008, by Laurent Cantet, and other short movies). See www.lafermedubuisson.com

Sunday 14th:
In the morning, visit of the Melies exhibition at the Cinémathèque (12th) followed by a good-bye picnic in the beautiful garden of Bercy...

RUSH UP MEETING : DETAILS

WE NOW HAVE SELECTED ALL THE PARTICIPANTS OF RUSH UP PROJECT:

Kalle Fotini and Dimitris Giouzepas (Greece), Christoph Hornak (Austria), Lena Lemerhofer (Austria), Anastastasia Lobkovski (Finland), Guillaume Mercier (France), Anna Nilsson (Sweden), Paula Redlefsen (Germany) and Marcel Romeijn (Netherlands)

Those young european directors exchanged their rushes in July and worked on their films during the summer. The challenge was to edit a brand new movie with someone else rushes : 60 min of DV rushes to be recycled in a less than 10 minutes short film !!!

The result will be screened in public on the 11th of September, at 8.30, in LES VOUTES, an alternative venue in Paris (www.lesvoutes.org), together with a retrospective of found footage by Olivier Fouchard (organized with the Collectif Jeune Cinéma: http://www.cjcinema.org/) and will be available soon in DVD with other surprises...

RUSH UP! New Schedule! July-September 2008

NISI MASA FRANCE rusharing project “ RUSH UP ! “has been postponed!
It finally take place between July and September 2008 !
That sounds better... doesn’t it?

So, here’s the new basic schedule:

- 20^th of July :
Deadline for entries (Application form + 1h MiniDV tape of rushes)
- 20^th to 31^st of July :
Mailing of the working tapes to selected participants
- 1^st to 31^st of August :
Creative editing and mailing of finished movies by participants
- 11^th of September :
Paris Meeting: Arrival of the participants and public screening of their movies
- 12^th and 13^th September :
Paris Meeting: Initiations and Mini-Workshop about Recycling Moving Frames (Vjaying, found footage, collective cine lab, author’s rights legislation,...)
- 14^th :
free!

RUSH UP ! Presentation !

Don’t know what to do with all the DV-tapes that fill your shelves at home?

Tired of not having the time to edit the bunch of images you took in the last few years?

Love making movies, editing, and sharing your experience?

Then recycle it and take part in Rush Up : the European Rusharing Project which will be organized by NISI MASA FRANCE during the next tree months.

The idea…

You send us, with your application form, before the 20^th of July 2008, an original and personal 60-minute DV-tape of rushes of any kind: tourism, family, friends, travel, raw material from one of your movies or an unfinished project… whatever you want as long as the images have not been edited.

You receive in exchange a 60-minute DV-tape of rushes from another participant, from a different country, before the 1^st of August 2008.

Then, you have 1 month to edit a movie with that tape (duration: 5 to 10 minutes). You can use any “post-production tools" you wish: special effects, original sounds and music, subtitles, text and so on - but you don’t have the right to shoot additional images. Please avoid the usual “musical clip” … Then you send your movie on a master DV-tape to NISI MASA FRANCE before the 1^st of September 2008.

On the 11^th of September 2008, NISI MASA FRANCE will organize a special edition of its “Cinepudding” screenings in Paris. 10 movies (for 10 participants) will be shown to the Parisian public in an alternative venue called “Les Voûtes” (Paris XIII).

The 10 participants will be invited in Paris for 4 days, from the 11^th to the 14^th of September 2008 (70% of travel expenses reimbursed). They will present their movies during the screening and participate to meetings and workshops with professional editors, experimental filmmakers and other artistic associations on the topic of found footage movies, film restoration, and collective filmmaking.

How to apply?

Please print, complete and sign the Application Form attached in .doc and send it with your tape before the 20th of July 2008 deadline, at the postal address written at the end of the Application Form.

Send also  as soon as possible, the application form at rushup.project@gmail.com

We will select the participants depending on their experience in editing and their motivation. We will also take into account their countries and the kind of rushes they send, in order to have as much diversity as possible.

The selection result will be communicated by email before the 1^st of August 2008.
